I find it difficult to watch at times. All the fidgeting, wiggles & waggles before the shot is struck. As I write this, he is leading the Players by 1, but seems to be faltering. As as weekend golfer and a trader I feel for him. While I have never had a problem pulling the trigger on the golf course, I certainly have struggled with that as a trader. Dr. Brett Steenbarger talks about trading as an elite performance field just like sports, and everyday I find similarities between golf & trading.

Not being able to pull the trigger is one of those afflictions that many golfers & traders have to deal with. As an amateur golfer I don’t struggle with it, but it is simply a hobby, not my only means of making as living and that is what makes it easier for me. If I hit a bad shot I give myself a bollocking and move on.

As a trader, a bad trade really bugs me because it has far worse implications than an errant drive. I am very grateful that I don’t have to wrestle with my trading demons in public every day. Wrestling with them in private is difficult enough. As Kevin Na struggles in front of millions of people I can only feel for him, and at the same time applaud his courage.

I have a bone to pick with the broadcasters. Erine Els, who is forty something years old, beat Luke Donald, number one seed, number one in the world, and defending champion, in the first round. Not only did he beat him, he hammered him 5 & 4. Was this the headline from golfchannel.com or on ESPN in the morning? No, the headline was that Tiger got through, by beating some unknown, unproven and unforgettable Spaniard. Do me a fucking favor. Well done Tiger, you beat a dude who is probably number 266 in the world, specifically put there for you to look good to thump. Not exactly a thumping was it.

Now, as far as day two goes, thank God Jimenez beat Bradley (*yawn*) because pretty much every single exciting player is now out. Watney (double *yawn*) beat Tiger, which will be on the news for 3 days, and Bae beat Schwartzel. Unfortunately all the exciting players are in one group, so Jimenez now faces Mcilroy. Hopefully Kaymer & Westwood get through tomorrow, else the weekend is going to be one boring affair.

I wonder how Nike can strong-arm ESPN into getting Tiger into the news over the weekend too now? Fuckers.
